the ordeal of the swan warrior
"Unlike the overall believe virgins were not merely sacrificed to sate the hunger and anger of the beasts living in the forest and mountains, but they were trained and given a very special armor that was handed down from female warriors for more than 6 generations.
The girl had a fair chance to strike down the beast and free her village from the vermin or to sacrifice her flesh in order to soothe the beasts' raging.
It was considered a great honour to be chosen as a swan warrior."
